You may recognize this beautiful woman as half of the fabulous duo we photographed during their destination engagement shoot in Carmel, California… Well they finally tied the knot on Saturday… and I can finally post these gorgeous bridals we took at Rice University! Such a stunning backdrop for a gorgeous bride! Flawless! Hair: Hair by Liz
A few years ago I met this kind-hearted, sweet spirited, Godly man in college… He is to this day…one of the most thoughtful, loving and selfless people I’ve ever met. Justin contacted me last year to tell me that he met a girl… and that he was planning to propose to her… He said I’ve been following what you’re doing with your work and I always knew I wanted to ask you to document my day for me… but my wedding might be in Bali, Indonesia… Do you go there? (I mean it is literally on the complete opposite side of the world!) And my response was… ABSOLUTELY!… You see…Justin is not a settler… He chose to wait on God’s perfect timing to find the woman God saved for him… and vice versa… So I knew when he told me that he met a girl…that this was something incredible… It was a long time coming… a long time of patience… a long time of praying for her… a long time of wondering who “she” would be… and I knew this girl would be no ordinary girl… Fast forward a few weeks and Justin and Christy met with me for their engagement photos and I see this beautiful girl for the first time…and I was right… She was absolutely no ordinary girl…She was extraordinary… Strong but sweet spirted… Sure of herself but gentle… and I knew… that they had found their soulmate. “For I have found the one my soul loves.” Solomon 3:4 comes to mind when I think of them… and I could not be happier for them! Justin and Christy… Thank you a thousand times for trusting me to capture such sweet moments on your VERY special day… and to be a part of something so, so special… and thank you for allowing me the opportunity to travel aronud the world and see such magnificence. Love you guys!!

Ohhh Emmm Geeee! How absolutely adorable are these two?! I just can’t even stand it! Haha! Kelsey and RT… Beautiful people with beautiful hearts naturally attract beautiful people with beautiful hearts! You two are the cutest and sweetest together… I photographed both of Kelsey’s sisters weddings… They look like they could be triplets! (And if you saw their mom you’d think they were quadruplets! haha) All such beautiful ladies…with beautiful hearts!! I am so excited to capture your sweet day!! 😀
When I took this series of photos at Emily and Tim’s wedding in 2011… they were actually bummed they didn’t have a get-away car… but I told them we needed one last shot of the night… and I thought of this… None of us had any idea that it would have gone viral! It has been circulating the internet-pinterest, wedding blogs, Facebook and other websites where others have put their logo on my photo… for the last 5 years. The Bridal Guide Blog posted it under the top 50 wedding shots to take during your wedding. Flattering, but they removed my logo and credited me beneath…The problem with that was… that once it was pinned…it goes back to their blog… or people just re-pin without proper credit… I even found it on another site where someone credited “Bridal Guide Photography”… (*FacePalm* – haha). Someone, some where along the way cropped my logo off while posting it. While I sort out the legalities of what has happened I wanted to share it here in hopes that if it gets shared…it will get shared now with the proper logo/photo credit!
I know some people get irritated when their photos are posted with a logo/watermark… but here are a few reasons we logo/watermark our work:
- So that others know who created that work of art and hopefully generate more business. (Word of mouth/Social Media is powerful, ya’ll!)
- To protect our work from other photographers stealing it and claiming it as their on. It happens ALL the time… Just ask www.stopstealingphotos.com
- To protect clients from stealing and screen-shooting/printing copy-written images illegally.
Logo’s often get cropped out of Facebook photos and instagram photos…and you think it is totally harmless… but to pour heart and soul into something… only to have it pinned over 100,000 times on pinterest…and shared thousands of times on Facebook…with tens of thousands of likes… all with no credit to the artist who created it… is saddening and maddening. Also, to know that other people are putting their logos on your work, claiming it as their own… is incredibly frustrating (to put it lightly)…
So… If you find something inspiring that you want to pin or share… please make sure the logo stays in tact…(and if you really wanna be AWESOME…link back to their site!) 😉 If you have a photographer who has taken a photo of you and you post it on Facebook or your Instagram page… please make sure the logo is able to be seen (and again…if you really wanna be extra awesome… ask them for their hashtags etc. if you don’t already know it!)
**I am writing this hopefully in an effort to educate people on this importance…I realize that if you are not in this business you don’t realize the importance as we do. If you’ve gotten this far…Thank you for listening. 🙂 Haha.**
